Back in 2020 during lockdown, I was settling into working from home on Solar Opposites. With all the uncertainty back then, I was also taking on freelance work to build my emergency funds. And one of those jobs was doing character designs for the Kid Cudi & Kena Barris Netflix series, Entergalactic.
This was an amazing job for many reasons. The director and producers hired me for my specific aesthetic, so I was free to cut loose in my own style. This is also the first Emmy-nominated project I’ve ever worked on.
I was watching the live-action adaptation of The Boys at the time, and that definitely inspired the Cosmic Comics superheroes I designed for Entergalactic.
Also, the series is a salute to the late Virgil Abloh, a brilliant fashion designer and friend of Kid Cudi’s who served as a costume designer on Entergalactic. Sadly, Abloh passed away before the series was released, but his unique vision of streetwear is apparent throughout the show.
Entergalactic is a well-crafted, richly animated story. A lot of skilled people put tons of hard work into the series. It’s a beautiful celebration of art and music at the intersection of romance, comedy and culture. I’m honored that I got to contribute a bit of my own magic to the potion.

Be well and stay tuned,
